Overview

This article explains what the PostEngine Export & Import Settings feature is and how to use it to transfer your unique settings.

Export & Import Settings is useful if you have information saved in your PostEngine Settings page (for example photos, headers/footers, unique amenity information, etc.) that you'd like reflected on all of the computers in your office.

It's also handy if you need to uninstall/reinstall the program for any reason or are upgrading from the PostEngine extension to the PostEngine for Desktop program and want to avoid having to re-enter the information manually.

To Access your PostEngine settings page:

If you're using the PostEngine Chrome extension -

1. Open Google Chrome,  click on the puzzle-piece icon in the upper right corner of the Chrome browser window.

2.  Click on the blue, PostEngine icon.

3.  Click Settings.

If you're using the PostEngine for Desktop application -

1. Open PostEngine for Desktop.

2. Click PostEngine Settings on the left-hand side.

How to Use Export & Import Settings

First, click on Maintenance at the bottom of your PostEngine Settings page.

How to Use Export & Import Settings

On the computer that has the unique information saved in the settings page:

Click Export Settings. Confirm whether or not you want to Include Uploaded Photos and then click Download Settings File. This will download a json file to your computer.

After downloading the settings file, go ahead and uninstall/reinstall your existing PostEngine or install the PostEngine for Desktop program on your computer if you are upgrading!

If you would you like to send the file to a different computer, you can easily send it as an email attachment!

Once you have successfully installed PostEngine on another computer or your existing one, please re-open the PostEngine Settings on the computer you'd like to upload the settings to.

Scroll to the bottom and click Maintenance, then scroll to the bottom again and click Import Settings then click Upload Settings File.

Once this file has been uploaded into the settings page it will match the settings from the original computer.

Troubleshooting

Can I use the same settings on multiple computers?

Yes, you can easily email the json file as an attachment and use it on as many computers in your office as you'd like!

I exported my settings but can't seem to find the file on my computer.

You should be able to find the file in the Downloads folder on your desktop. It should be called "post-engine-settings.json".
